Norms and Standards Committee
This Committee consists of between five and nine members, as nominated by PSHA members.
The primary objective of the Committee is to provide assistance to the Board in strengthening transparent and strategic relationships with the DHET, NSFAS and the tertiary institutions aimed at investigating the feasibility of introducing and independent PSHA grading system based on realistic norms and standards, incorporating the purpose-built accommodation, student life services and accommodation location dimensions.
The Committee’s focus in relation to DHET’s Minimum Norms and Standards Policy is to achieve the following:
- A sustainable student accommodation sector
- Alignment with the practical realities of design and affordability associated with purpose-built student accommodation
- Optimise benefit to PSHA members’ business
- Reduce time, cost and process requirements
- Categorise accommodation quality and differentiation
- Instil impartiality and fairness into policies and processes
